Not every love story begins the way people expect it to.

Some don’t start with connection.

Or attraction.

Or even the possibility of something good.

Some start with impact.

The kind that changes everything in a single moment.

The kind that divides a life into before and after.

And for some reason…

those are the kind of stories I’m drawn to.

The ones that center around love born from trauma.

Connections shaped by what happens after everything changes.

Where the damage is already done.

Where the people in it are trying to figure out who they are now—after everything they thought they knew has shifted.

Because love doesn’t always show up at the beginning.

Sometimes it shows up later.

In the aftermath.

In the quiet spaces where grief settles in.

In the moments where guilt lingers longer than it should.

And it doesn’t feel easy.

It feels complicated.

Restrained.

Like something that shouldn’t exist… but does anyway.

That’s the kind of connection I’m drawn to writing.

The kind that asks harder questions.

The kind that isn’t just about falling in love—but about whether two people can stay…after everything that should have pulled them apart.

Maybe it’s because those stories feel closer to something real.

Not perfect.

Not clean.

But honest.

And maybe that’s what makes them matter.
